After the design and successful completion of the renovation of the corporate offices of a major Chicago area beverage distribution company, the owner acquired second floor space in the north suburban area to house a small office suite for his holding company. We were retained to complete a traditionally designed space including the chairman's office and adjacent space for his executive assistant, an associate's office, a conference room and a waiting/reception area. As the build-out neared completion, the owner acquired additional space on the first floor, a very small portion of which overlapped the space above. A curved switchback stair was designed to connect the two spaces in this sliver of overlap. This second phase of work was more cost effectively designed in a transitional manner featuring expansive curved walls relating to the undulating stair. This build-out included four associate offices, a common area for two administrative assistants, a conference room, a kitchenette and a file/storage room.
