The design process was a collaborative effort involving all members of the firm from initial programming to final move-in. The complete scheme was developed at weekly office meetings when the principals presented a schematic space plan and design ideas for critique and discussion. The result of those lively interactions, in which each individual contributed, was a stimulating design. Approaching from the main elevator bank, an existing floor to ceiling wood and glass entry wall subconsciously draws you into the office. The entry/ reception area is compact and efficient and contains a custom birch desk with decorative textured glass panels. This entry piece and its connected shaped gallery lead to the creative space. This directed path of travel is achieved with various devices including a widening angled wall, punctuated with a series of stainless steel panels & sconce lights, an angled ceiling and birch display rail. The main work area is constructed with gypsum board partitions, laminate work surfaces and birch trim and shelves. The conference room, at the end of the main work area, occupies the outside corner. More refined, it features a birch and glass privacy wall similar in detailing to the entry. The goal of providing a stimulating environment was achieved through materiality and devices representational of the firm's preferred aesthetic. The introduction of engaging colors, common lighting fixtures innovatively located, classic furniture and contemporary artwork complete the objective.
